Motoman offers a variety of fully integrated spray gun options for these different wrist types, including air spray, electrostatic and bell applications. As an option, Motoman offers a built-in (external axis) servo motor that can be used to drive gear pumps which are used for closed-loop fluid control.

| Description | Suitable for painting car and insides of box-shaped objects. | Suitable for painting horizontal and vertical planes at high speeds. | Includes a large opening through the robot base, arm, and wrist for hoses, cables and direct connection of various spray application devices to the robot wrist. Interference between the hoses and parts/fixtures is avoided, ensuring optimum cycle time and robot reach/access. |
All of the Motoman PX-series robots feature a Factory Mutual (FM) Class 1, Division 1 explosion-proof rating. Painting devices such as Color Change Valves (up to 24 colors), Flushable Gear Pump, and solenoid valves can be mounted on the upper arm of the larger, floor-mounted painting robots.
MotoSim EG (Motoman Simulation System with Enhanced Graphics) is Motoman’s comprehensive PC-based robotic system simulation package that allows users to optimize robot placement, minimize fixturing errors and reduce robot installation time.
| Part shape | Part variety | Cycle time | Capital and operating costs |
Paint savings | Technical expertise |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Robots handle complex part shapes with recesses, curved surfaces, etc. | Robots handle a range of dissimilar parts at high production rate | Painting speed is critical factor not necessarily robot speed
Robot can use a complex spray path, spraying different areas of the part to build film thickness without runs or sags |
Total cost includes robot plus cost of integration into paint system Documentation, training, tool holders, interface electronics, and technical support |
Repeatability of automated spraying saves paint material cost
(Less maintenance, cleanup, lower filter/water wash chemicals, VOCs (Estimated 25 to 30% paint savings for automated system vs. human) |
Robots require attention to cleanliness and preventive maintenance, as well as well trained, and technically knowledgeable staff in addition to paint expertise |
Motoman is available to consult with paint and coating personnel to achieve your paint project needs and objectives. We will recommend the optimum Motoman series robot for your application solution.
