Robotic machine tending offers significant benefits to the customer. By adding robotics to your machining cell, it increases the spindle utilization and can allow the cell to run unattended for extended periods of time.
Our LoadWorld part stocker allows the cell to continue producing parts during breaks, lunch and after the operator has gone home for the day. Many parts can be fixtured at minimal cost, or in some situations, a vision system is used to locate loose parts in the drawer. Finished parts can be put back into the stocker, placed on an outfeed conveyor, placed into a holding fixture for another robot cell, or other possibilities depending on the part processing requirements. The amount of unmanned production that can be achieved depends on the amount of parts that can be stored for the robot to process. Some customers have purchased multiple part stockers to get the most from the robot cell’s unmanned production capability.
Using a robot in a machine tending application increases the consistency of the process. This consistency results in improved part quality because the quality issues caused by operator to operator inconsistencies are no longer an issue. As quality improves, it makes production scheduling much easier. The productivity gained by automating the cell is significant.
LoadWorld
LoadWorld is a pre-engineered machine tending solution that offers a low cost method to automate machine tool operations. The package includes a four drawer part stocker that can hold a number of parts that can provide extended periods of unattended operation. The drawers can be used for a single or multiple parts. Part nests can be changed to handle a variety of parts using a single stocker. A variety of peripherals including grippers, re-grip stands, machine interfaces and vision systems complete this versatile product. |
MotoRail
Motoman Robotics offers a seven axis rail solution called MotoRail. By using a standard six axis robot and a seventh axis for the rail, this product provides a wider range of motion than other six axis solutions. This additional reach can reduce the required rail length in many applications. Rail use allows the efficient use of the robot equipment in situations where machining times are longer and traditional floor mounted automation sometimes is not the best solution. Creative safety solutions can be used to take single machines off line while allowing other machines serviced by the MotoRail to continue operation. |
Custom Automation Solutions
Motoman offers custom automation solutions to meet individual needs. Our wide variety of integrator partners and internal engineering resources allows us to provide cost effective customized solutions regardless of the parts that you need to produce. With specific experience in a wide variety of industries, it’s likely we have experience with parts close to yours. |
