Remote Laser Welding with Trumpf
Motoman announces a new interface for remote laser welding with the Trumpf PFO laser head and YAG lasers.  The robot software calculates the trajectory of the laser beam and controlling laser power.  This provides the unique capability of programming the laser using teach pendant keys, similar to other robot axes.  Shape files provide a single point of control for shape definition and beam power control.  Standard shapes include a straight line, circles and Cs.  More information will become available as Motoman conducts weld trials over the summer.  Contact Motoman if you have active laser welding projects.

Helpful Hints

Problem:
I would like to add different parts to my NX100 robot workcell. Without a thumb wheel, how would I call these jobs from my master job?

Solution:
The NX100 controller features an onboard interface panel where you can set up a 3 or 6 digit preset counter.  Preset counters can be used to enter a numerical value to the assigned variable or register, as well as display the current value of the variable/register.  Preset counters can be used to move data from one variable type to another.  You can set values to byte and integer variables as well as M registers.  Your master job can call a job based on the value you set in the counter.  The only draw back to this function is that you must stop execution of the program to change the value. Using the hold button while the master job is cycling and then restarting from the top of the master is the best way to do this.

For more information or to have this feature added to your NX100, contact customer service at 937-847-3200.
