ROBOT CALIBRATION SYSTEM

MotoCal is a robot calibration system that improves the overall accuracy of Motoman robots. MotoCal re-masters the robot to provide improved Tool Control Point (TCP) control. In addition, MotoCal simplifies off-line programming (OLP) by reducing the touch-up required when transitioning from an OLP package to the actual robot. Likewise, MotoCal simplifies the process of cloning jobs between two actual robot cells by reducing the touch-up on the destination robot.

Programming Filter

  • Enhanced accuracy programming filter is available with NX100, XRC and MRC controllers. Compensates for robot manufacturing deviations for which the robot controller cannot compensate.
  • Used to clone jobs from OLP package to actual robot or from robot to robot.
  • Filter can compensate for drift due to heavily loaded arm.
  • Filter parameter file resides on PC and filtering process is done off-line. Once robot jobs have been updated on PC, they can be downloaded to the robot controller. (FDE is provided to transfer files to and from robot controller.)
  • MotoCal can filter positions in both pulse and Cartesian format. Jobs containing external axis positions can be filtered as well.
  • One programming filter is included with MotoCal package.

Mastering Robot

  • Re-masters up to six robot axes for the NX100, XRC, MRC and ERC controller series.

Calculates Tool Data

  • Determines six degrees of freedom (X, Y, Z, Rx, Ry, Rz) for a robot end-effector.

Package Components

  • MotoCal calibration software.
  • Opto-mechanical device for precise measurement of robot position.
  • Data acquisition unit.
  • Swivel adapter designed to attach to a Motoman Tough Gun® welding torch or a universal swivel adapter for other applications. For OLP and cloning applications, swivel can be attached to tools up to 19 mm in diameter.
  • Ability to create and maintain a MotoFilter for a single robot system (filters for additional robots/systems can be purchased separately).
  • MotoCal training credit.

Options

  • Arm-specific tool for re-mastering the robot; mounts directly to last axis (T-axis) of robot.
