Description Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises which emphasize commands covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small to promote an interactive, hand-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work with each other and Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming.
Topics Students learn to manipulate the robot, create new robot programs, modify existing programs, and apply application-specific commands.

Primary topics include:

  • Robot safety
  • System power up/down
  • Coordinate systems
  • Job functions
  • Programming pendant
  • Path editing
  • Position levels
  • Speed correction
  • Arithmetic variables
  • Fault recovery
  • I/O & control instructions
  • User frames
  • Tool Center Point (TCP)
