Description Classroom lectures and practice exercises consist of system safety and cell operation reinforced with demonstrations. Covered topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 8,500-sq.ft. training facility. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises which emphasize topics covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work closely with each other and Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of safe robot operation.
Topics Students learn to manipulate the robot, modify existing programs, and create backup data.

Primary topics include:

  • Safety in and around the workcell
  • Power up/down
  • Coordinate systems
  • Jogging the robot
  • Modifying points
  • Checking specified point
  • Checking TCP calibration
  • Recovery from alarms and errors
  • Use of standard push-button operator station, as applicable
Overview This course is designed for personnel responsible for operating a Motoman robotic system and minor point editing. Not meant for robotic programmers, this course teaches safety in and around the robot cell, use of the standard push-button operator's station, basic troubleshooting, and point modification.
Materials Students receive copies of handouts, which detail specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific operating issues.
Length This module is a 2.0 day training class. On-Site classes are demand based and should be scheduled 60-90 days in advance to ensure availability.
