Description Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 8,500-sq.ft. training facility. Students perform workshop exercises which emphasize topics covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work closely with Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming.
Topics Students learn to perform advanced functions with the XRC controller and SVX-, SKX, and UP-series robots.

  • Application of variable data
  • Defining and using position variables
  • Use of system variables
  • Naming variables
  • Advanced arithmetic instructions
  • Floppy disk drive operations
  • Customizing parameters
  • Defining cubic interference zones
  • Setting axes soft limits
  • Job shifting
  • Internal shock sensor
  • Dynamic editing (PAM)
  • Software options such as PMT, Relative Job, Concurrent Job, Interrupt Job, Search Function, and External Reference Point
Overview The XRC Advanced Programming Module is an advanced course for the XRC controller and programming of the Motoman SVX-, SKX-, UP- series industrial robots. Students are required to possess basic program- ming knowledge of the controller prior to attending this training module. Either XRC Basic Programming or MRC-to-XRC Upgrade Modules are prerequisites to the XRC Advanced Programming Module.
Materials Students receive the XRC Advanced Training Manual, as well as handouts that relate to specific topics covered in class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.
Length This module is a 4.5-day training class. Classes are held throughout the year, on average of 3-4 times per quarter, but typically close out 60-90 days in advance.
Prerequisite OPEN ENROLLMENT classes have the prerequisite waived.
