This course provides instruction for programmers needing advanced programming and advanced welding information. Students are required to possess basic programming knowledge of the controller and a basic understanding of the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process prior to attending this training module.
Primary topics include:
- Developing and setting weld files and weld jobs
- Troubleshooting weld issues
- Weave welding
- Defining cubes
- Using position variables
- Programming incremental moves
- Parallel shifting jobs
- Programming external axes
- Understanding touch sense & seam tracking
Course Overview
Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 13,400-sq.ft. training facility. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on atmosphere. Students work with each other and with the help of Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming. To perform the hands-on practice exercises, students are typically assigned 2 to a programming pendant at MTEC and no more than 3 to a programming pendant On-Site.
Course Materials
Students receive a course outline, objectives, and a manual, which details welding commands, programming techniques, and specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and inquire about specific operating issues.
Prerequisite
NX100 Basic Programming with Arc Welding and a basic understanding of the GMAW process.
Notes
Training class schedules are subject to be changed without notice, based on training demands. All Training classes are held in the Miamisburg, OH Training Facility unless other prior arrangements have been confirmed.
