The XRC Accelerated Programming Module is an accelerated learning course covering standard basic and advanced programming functions and instructions. Prior experience with Motoman robots is recommended for this course.
Students learn to manipulate the robot, create new robot programs, modify existing programs, create backup data, and apply application-specific commands.
Primary topics include:
- Robot safety
- Basic and advanced I/O
- Basic and advanced variable use
- Basic & advanced arithmetic instructions
- Standard shifting functions
- Programming and editing w/ INFORM II
- Basic & advanced use of position variables
- SC parameter functions
- Using system variables
- Basic Arc Welding Functions
Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 8,500-sq.ft. training facility. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises which emphasize commands covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work closely with each other and Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming.
Students receive the XRC Accelerated Programming Manual and miscellaneous handouts that relate to specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.
Although no prerequisite is required, typical students who enroll in this course either have extensive previous experience or have already taken a basic course. If a student does not fall under either of the above categories, we highly discourage them from enrolling in this course. It runs at a very fast pace, covering 32 chapters in one week.
