The XRC SVX-, SKX-, UP-Series Maintenance Module is a preventive maintenance/troubleshooting course for the XRC controller and the SVX-, SKX-, and UP-series industrial robots. Individuals responsible for maintenance/repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis should attend this class. XRC Basic Programming is a prerequisite to this course. Confirmation of attendance is required.
Students learn to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on the XRC controller and SVX-, SKX-, UP-series robots.
Primary topics include:
- XRC controller hardware architecture
- Circuit board replacement
- I/O connections
- Power distribution
- Signal flow
- Basic servo theory
- Servopack replacement procedures
- Speed reducer replacement
- Motor replacement
- Preventive maintenance schedule
- Robot calibration procedures*
Course Overview
Class lectures on maintenance procedures are reinforced with demonstrations. Material covered is enhanced with actual hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting performed by students. Students perform lab exerciese which reinforce topics covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 6 or fewer, to provide the high level of hands-on learning required. Students work closely with instructors to grasp the concepts of robot/controller maintenance.
Course Materials
Students receive a copy of the XRC SVX-, SKX-, UP-Series Maintenance Manual which details installation, maintenance, electrical diagrams, spare parts, etc. for the SKX-series robot model. Additional handouts relate to specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.
