Students are required to possess basic programming knowledge of the XRC controller and XRC system welding prior to attending this training module. As a minimum, the student should have a basic understanding of the GMAW process. The XRC Basic Programming with Arc Welding Module is a prerequisite to the XRC Com-Arc III Programming Module. XRC Advanced Arc Welding is recommended.
Primary topics include:
- Com-Arc III Seam Tracking
- Interconnections
- Software instruction/use of files
- Setup and programming
- Measurement modes
- Com-Arc III Seam Finding
- Weld start point detecting function
- Temporary shift with position variables

Course Overview
Classroom lectures on theory of operations and programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Students perform workshop exercises which emphasize topics covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically six or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work closely with Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of enhanced robot programming.
Course Materials
Students receive a copy of the XRC Com-Arc III Function Manual, which details functions of the related Com-Arc software. Additional handouts are provided that relate to specific topics covered in class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.
Prerequisite
Must have attended XRC Basic Programming with Arc Welding
Notes
Please inform Motoman of your system configuration when scheduling this class.
