The XRC to MRC Basic Programming Module is a transitional course to the MRC controller and programming of the Motoman SV-, SK- series industrial robots for trained XRC users. No prior knowledge of programming of the MRC controller is required. The XRC Basic Programming Module is a prerequisite to this module. Proof of XRC Basic course completion is required.

Students learn to manipulate the robot, create new robot programs, modify existing programs, and apply application-specific commands.

Course Overview

This training module is an accelerated version of the standard MRC Basic Programming course. It is designed for students who have achieved competency in the XRC/ INFORM II language and need to make the transition to MRC. Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 8,500- sq.ft. training facility. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises which emphasize commands covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work with each other and Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming.

Course Materials

Students receive a copy of the MRC Basic Training Manual, which details commands and programming technique for the Motoman MRC Controller. Additional handouts relate to specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.
