Technology for end-to-end packaging is advancing at an incredibly fast pace, assisting leading manufacturers in their efforts to keep up with evolving customer demands. From picking and packing to palletizing, high-performance robots that are easy-to-configure, deploy and program are no exception. Combined with powerful vision and simulation tools, as well as robust motion components, robots are helping manufacturers in diverse industries tackle the toughest challenges.

Join our Experts!
To learn more about optimizing your packaging productivity, join our Yaskawa experts September 23-25 at Pack Expo Las Vegas in booth C-4243. Whether your focus is food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, consumer products or specialty items, Yaskawa’s full suite of products and technologies make integrating and managing your solution remarkably rapid, simple and cost-effective.

This year’s exhibit will feature solutions to simplify product handling and boost production output in a variety of environments, demonstrating industry-leading robots, collaborative technologies and innovative advancements:

Very Compact, Lightweight Robot: MotoMini
Come see two of the smallest and lightest six-axis robots in the industry work closely together to facilitate high throughput small-part processing. Equipped with the highest acceleration speeds in a small-size robot, the MotoMini only weighs 7 kg, making it easy to carry and ideal for mounting close to workpieces and other machinery in existing lines or cells.

The MotoMini robot is controlled by the space-saving YRC1000micro robot controller – the smallest robot controller in its class – that can be installed in either a vertical or horizontal position, as well as within a 19-inch rack.

Easy-to-Program, Direct Teach Collaborative Robot: HC10DT
Experience how easy robot programming can be with the HC10DT collaborative robot in this hands-on demonstration. Made to work safely with, or in close proximity to humans, the HC10DT (direct teach) robot utilizes Power and Force Limiting (PFL) technology and provides hand-guided teaching for fast deployment or redeployment on demand.

Ideal for novice users, the easy-to-use touchscreen Smart Pendant will also be featured. Radically changing the way a robot is programmed via the use of patented Smart Frame technology, the Smart Pendant makes the programmer the frame of reference, eliminating the use of conventional coordinate (X, Y, Z) frames to provide an easier learning curve.

Fast, Reliable 3D Vision System: MotoSight 3D BinPick
Learn how to take your small-part process to the next level with MotoSight 3D BinPick. The next generation of vision technology for picking applications, this system utilizes a single 3D Canon camera with integrated lighting for quick recognition and picking of parts that are randomly placed in bins. 3D CAD matching provides simplified, accurate part registration, allowing even complicated parts to be identified. This workcell showcases the agile MotoMini robot working alongside the exceptionally-fast GP7 robot. The GP7 features an IP67 rating and an easy-to-clean surface for use in sanitary or harsh environments.

Fast-Paced Palletizing: GP7 Robots with PalletSolver®
Watch as two GP7 robots efficiently operate in close proximity to demonstrate fast-paced palletizing, while highlighting PalletSolver – an offline pallet pattern generation tool that enables fast development and integration of robotic palletizing systems. PalletSolver can accommodate virtually any mix of SKUs, and easily handles single and complex multi-line palletizing.

High-Performance 2D Vision Solution: MotoSight 2D
Learn how fast and easy it is to recognize structured and semi-randomly placed parts for packaging, palletizing, assembly and machine loading. and more with enhanced MotoSight 2D vision. Cost-effective and easy to integrate, this high-performance hardware/software solution features a space-saving Cognex camera and utilizes leading PatMax® pattern recognition software. MotoSight 2D will be featured on the high-speed, small footprint GP8 robot that offers an IP67 rating and easy-to-clean surface.

Complete Packaging Line Solution: GP12 Robot with MPP3H Robots
Discover how this versatile pick and place workcell can improve OEE through its singular control architecture. The solution features an extremely fast and efficient GP12 robot, as well as two MPP3H delta-style robots which offer a zero footprint for high-density installation. With its IP67 structure, NSF-H1 certified food-grade lubricants, anti-corrosive paint and ISP Class 5, the MPP3H is applicable to a wide spectrum of industries such as food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical and automotive.

Like the GP7 and GP8 robots, the GP12 robot is part of the GP-series family of robots with payload capacities from 7 kg to 600 kg and are designed for a large variety of handling applications. Engineered for simple installation, easy operation and minimal maintenance, GP-series robots are controlled by Yaskawa’s high-performance, space-saving YRC1000 controller, which uses a lightweight standard teach pendant.

This demonstration also features MotoPick™, a user-friendly advanced software package that enables rapid deployment of machine vision-based, high-speed picking solutions. Providing precise control and coordination of infeed and outfeed conveyors, this powerful software option can synchronize multiple robots to pick fast moving products from a conveyor for placement on an outfeed device, tray or box in an organized arrangement.

Real-time Machine Monitoring: Yaskawa Cockpit
Be sure to see how many of the robots and devices in the Yaskawa booth are connected to Yaskawa Cockpit – this software platform that monitors, accumulates and visually delivers operational data in real time for networked production environments. A key component of Yaskawa’s i3–Mechatronics vision of Industry 4.0, Yaskawa Cockpit’s integrated approach provides the ability to synchronize all factory and operational knowledge, enabling companies to implement data-driven optimized planning that maximizes efficiency and throughput.

Adaptive Handling Solution: HC10DT Robot with Soft Robotics mGrip P4Y Gripper
See what this interactive demo is giving away! Featuring the Yaskawa HC10DT collaborative robot – equipped with the modular mGrip P4Y kit from our Smart Series technology partner, Soft Robotics Inc. – this adaptive and precise handling solution is ideal for unstructured tasks and objects of varying size, shape and weight.

Next-Generation Collaborative Robot: HC20
Get up close to the newest Yaskawa human-collaborative robot, featuring an increased payload and a longer reach.

Singular Control: MP3300iec Controller
Learn more about Singular Control – the ability to run multiple mechanisms, as well as several axes of motion, on one standard Yaskawa machine controller – from our sister division, Drives & Motion. Watch as four types of robotic devices under the control of a single MP3300iec controller (running standard IEC 61131-3 function block programming and a PackML user interface), work seamlessly together to quickly and precisely achieve a packaging-style sorting task.

This demo includes the MotoMini and GP8 robots, as well as an innovative pick-and-place robot (a dual 4-bar mechanism mounted at the side of a standard conveyor belt rather than above).

With robotics playing such an important role in achieving simple, flexible automation for picking, packing, palletizing, warehouse management and more, Pack Expo is the perfect venue to learn how you can optimize your packaging productivity. Plus, learn how our Yaskawa Support Services offers the most comprehensive aftermarket care in the industry for maximized uptime and accelerated ROI.

And, be sure to enjoy a cold beverage from our HC10 robotic bartender at the Yaskawa Motoman Pub!
