Weld Inspection for Safety Critical Assemblies

Posted by Chris Anderson on Nov 2, 2017 10:44:27 AM

The stakes are high for manufacturers producing automotive parts. Automobile drivers and passengers rely on weld quality to hold up under the conditions for which it was designed. One uncaught mistake during the fabrication process could leave a business vulnerable or worse, especially when the part in question is “safety critical” to an assembly.

Keep on Truckin’ Lightly with Aluminum Welding

Posted by Chris Anderson on Jan 25, 2017 3:13:24 PM

Manufacturers of over-the-road vehicles (also referred to as OTR or long-haul trucks), and to a lesser degree car manufacturers, are improving fuel economy and reducing the weight of their vehicles with aluminum. Assembling frames, trailers and other components made of aluminum requires welding, and there are important differences between robotically welding steel components versus those made of aluminum.

A Robotic Helping Hand for the Welder Shortage

Posted by Glen Ford on Nov 23, 2015 4:34:26 AM

If you have more welding work than you know how to handle, you’re not alone. Help is becoming increasingly hard to find. Thirty years ago, the number of welders in America surpassed 550,000, but by 2013, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found there were just 343,000. Experts at the American Welding Society (AWS) say there will be a welder shortage of 290,000 skilled positions (including instructors, inspectors and engineers) between now and 2020.
