Yaskawa America, Inc. will soon be headed to Chicago, IL for Pack Expo International. In 2016, Pack Expo is the world’s largest processing and packaging industry show with more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and over 45,000 attendees. It will again be co-located with Pharma-Expo, which is the leading and dominant pharmaceutical event for comprehensive innovations.

The Yaskawa booth (#S-2179) will feature a variety of automation demo units at work, showcasing new ways to make picking, packing and palletizing operations more efficient.

Visitors can see applications using Singular Control™, the ability to run a complete set of robots, servo systems and variable frequency drives from a single MP3300iec machine controller using familiar IEC 61131-3 and PackML programming conventions. Yaskawa will introduce a new compact, pre-engineered solution for order fulfillment and random bin picking applications, and will preview solutions for human-robot collaboration and high-speed material handling.

Simple Picking.
See a complete packaging line solution from Yaskawa that focuses primarily on improving OEE and ease-of-use through its singular controls architecture. The familiar Yaskawa MP3200iec machine controller and manages the entire work-cell, which exemplifies singular machine and robot control. This solution features the MPP3H delta-style robot, which offers a zero footprint, making it ideal for high-density installation. With its IP67 structure, NSF-H1 certified food-grade lubricants, anti-corrosive paint and ISO Class 5, this model is applicable to a wide spectrum of industries such as food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical and automotive.

In another picking demonstration, the MPP3S robot, a smaller version of the MPP3H offering the same features and benefits, precisely performs ultra-high-speed packaging operations with ease. The robot and turntable in this demonstration are controlled by the MP3300iec machine controller. This device allows for the programming of the entire workcell in familiar IEC 61131-3 function blocks.

Also, you can learn how to make your fulfillment operation faster and smarter with a new compact, pre-engineered solution utilizing Universal Robotics’ Neocortex® artificial intelligence platform. The Neocortex Goods to Robot Cell combines ease-of-use with industrial speed and capacity for high-mix, high-volume applications. This workcell can interface with order fulfillment software, picking exact counts of a wide variety of SKUs, filling orders direct to shipping boxes or bags. It also can interface to manufacturing processes to pick from a range of totes and bins for machine tending, random bin picking or line loading.

Simple Packing.
Learn to program robots without using a proprietary robot controller. The MLX200 robot gateway allows Yaskawa robots to be programmed and controlled entirely in RSLogix™ using a CompactLogix® PLC. Yaskawa’s SigmaLogic servo drives allow for external motion to be programmed in familiar Add-On-Instructions (AOIs), minimizing the time it takes to interface devices to PLCs. Visitors can view a ladder program and robot AOIs first hand.

Yaskawa will also feature a packing workcell which highlights the ability of the MP3300iec to control multiple robot devices in different configurations utilizing the MotoPack IEC™ packing application toolbox. This workcell also demonstrates Yaskawa’s PackML and OEE templates which are available to provide detailed operational information on a workcell.

Simple Palletizing.
Find out how using robotics in palletizing and depalletizing applications can benefit your operations. An MPL80 II robot with PalletSolver™ software represent Yaskawa’s palletizing solutions. The highly versatile MPL80 II is ideal for case and bag palletizing, and many logistical tasks for end-of-line or distribution centers. PalletSolver is an offline PC-based software tool that generates optimal pallet patterns, enabling robots to palletize more variations quickly and efficiently. Yaskawa recently shared a case study about how an automated system with PalletSolver reduced Red Devil’s costs and improved production.

A complete solution for random depalletizing features two MH50 robots guided by Universal Robotics’ Neocortex® Unlimited Depalletizing software. In real-time, Neocortex learns 3D box sizes in various orientations and stacking patterns, enabling the robot to efficiently depalletize the randomly placed boxes and to remove slip sheets between layers.

Simple Collaboration.

We will be previewing our new human-collaborative robot, the HC10. Featuring a speed- and force-limited design, the HC10 works safely with, or in close proximity to humans. Easy to "teach by demonstration" or simple programming, it is fast to deploy or redeploy on demand. The HC10 is easily adaptable to changing requirements and can perform a broad range of material handling, machine tending or light assembly tasks.

Simple Productivity.
Yaskawa’s next-generation robot series will also be previewed at Pack Expo. The GP8, one of several new robot models available in 2017, is designed for handling and general applications. The high-speed GP8 has an IP67 rating and an easy-to-clean surface for use in harsher environments. Its slender design allows it to delve deep into the workspace, and only one cable is needed to connect the manipulator and controller.

Plan to visit the Yaskawa booth at Pack Expo 2016. You will be greeted by knowledgeable staff members and demonstrations that take the complexity out of launching automation solutions.  We make it simple – as simple as it gets!

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
