The biggest packaging and processing show in North America is around the corner, and we hope you can join us! October 23-26, stop by the Yaskawa booth (#S-2776) at Pack Expo International located in Chicago at McCormick Place. This year’s show will highlight innovative and cost-saving solutions for your most pressing packaging and supply chain challenges.

At the show, Yaskawa will feature multiple robot demonstrations, highlighting extremely fast, flexible and easy-to-program robots. Whether your focus is on food and beverage, consumer goods, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or specialty items, our full suite of innovative products and technologies make it simple and cost-effective to configure, program and integrate an ideal solution to optimize your operations.

PACK EXPO HIGHLIGHTS

NEW! Robotic Induction Workcell
Featuring the high-speed GP12 robot with high volume capability, this demonstration highlights the use of fast, reliable robotic automation, addressing high demands in order fulfillment. The GP12 offers a 1,440 mm horizontal reach, 2,511 mm vertical reach and a 12 kg payload capacity. Fizyr 3D/AI deep-learning automated picking software facilitates human-like vision by the Zivid Two 3D camera, enabling highly accurate robotic pick and place of a wide variety of objects. Highly flexible conveyors from Dynamic™ Conveyor Corporation and Dorner are shown, along with safety guarding by Advanced Machine Guarding Solutions (AMGS).

NEW! Collaborative Palletizing Demonstration
Delivering optimal performance for demanding production environments, Sidel’s mobile, plug and play CoboAccess™_Pal-M solution demonstrates safe, consistent and cost-effective palletizing for low- to medium-speed lines. Compact and flexible, this fenceless system features the six-axis Yaskawa HC20 collaborative robot with 1,700 mm effective reach, an easy-to-clean surface and NSF certified food-grade grease for use in spaces where there is the possibility of incidental food contact. The industry’s first IP67-rated cobot, the robust HC20 enables Sidel’s system to offer a case payload of 14 kg with application speed up to 6 cycles/min and pallet height up to 1,900 mm. Enhancing the user experience is Sidel’s user-friendly HMI, along with their smart pallet pattern configuration tool, PalDesigner®. Universal gripper tooling helps to expertly manage several case and interlayer sheet sizes.

*COMING SOON! For heavier case payloads, Sidel plans to release their CoboAccess_Pal solution with Yaskawa’s soon-to-be-released HC30PL robot.

Interactive Mixed-Process Workcell
Working together to facilitate an assembly-type process, the four-axis SG650 SCARA robot and the six-axis GP7 robot efficiently produce a unique souvenir for all booth visitors. Ideal for assembly, sortation and other processes requiring pick-and-place capability, each robot can be integrated with robust vision functionality, such as MotoSight™ 2D. The SG650 offers a 650 mm radial reach, 210 mm long U-axis stroke and a 6 kg payload capacity. It is also controlled by the compact YRC1000micro controller that has a small footprint (425 W x 125 H x 280 D mm), and it can be installed in either a vertical or horizontal position, as well as within a 19-inch rack. The fast, compact GP7 offers a 972 mm horizontal reach, 1,693 mm vertical reach and a 7 kg payload capacity. Schmaltz pneumatic grippers compliment the application, enabling precise handling of objects.

Industrial Offline Pallet Pattern Generation
Utilizing Yaskawa’s PalletSolver® software solution, this demonstration features two high-speed GP7 robots simulating an end-of-line production process. Featuring a scalable architecture that can handle even the most complex palletizing systems, PalletSolver enables users to efficiently generate ideal pallet patterns offline (from a PC-based environment) for a virtually unlimited number of SKUs. A robot controller based application optimizes execution of pattern files and robot operation. Single and multi-line palletizing is easily handled. Banner safety light curtains, and SMC air cylinders and pneumatics are also featured.

High-Speed 3D Bin Picking
Featuring the GP7 robot working alongside an extremely compact and lightweight MotoMini robot, this workcell features MotoSight 3D BinPick – the next generation of vision technology for picking applications. The easy-to-use hardware/software solution uses a high-performance 3D Canon camera with integrated lighting to accurately and efficiently recognize then pick parts that are randomly placed in bins. 3D CAD matching provides simplified yet precise part registration to enable the identification of complicated parts. SCHUNK grippers are featured, facilitating precise handling of objects.

Robust 2D Vision Functionality
Utilizing the extremely versatile and compact IP67-rated GP8 robot with a 727 mm horizontal reach, 1,312 mm vertical reach and an 8 kg payload, this handling demonstration highlights the use of our high-speed MotoSight 2D vision solution. Well-suited for general robot guidance, error proofing, part identification, part inspection and high-speed picking, this powerful yet easy-to-integrate hardware/software tool utilizes an ultra-compact Cognex In-Sight® 8401 camera for high resolution, and leading PatMax® pattern recognition software to distinguish structured and semi-randomly placed parts. An EMI conveyor and SMC pneumatics are also featured.

Hands-On Programming Experience
Featuring three of our flexible and easy-to-use HC10DTP collaborative robots, this interactive display allows booth visitors to safely hand guide a collaborative robot for an easy robot programming experience. The easy-to-use touchscreen Smart Pendant – using software version 2.1 with a built-in Classic Interface function – will also be featured. Ideal for novice robot programmers, the innovative Smart Pendant utilizes patented Smart Frame technology that determines the operator’s orientation relative to the robot. This makes the robot user the frame of reference and eliminates the use of conventional coordinate (X, Y, Z) frames for easy command of robot movement.

Interactive Drives & Motion Kiosk
The Yaskawa America Motion division will be announcing the new iCube Control™ machine control platform at this year’s Pack Expo show! This platform provides the flexibility of an open system design, the scalability of modular system integration, and the certainty of safety and support for which Yaskawa is known. Be sure to stop by to learn more and to experience a hands-on demonstration of Yaskawa’s new, iCube Engineer software engineering tool.

Collaborative Robot Pub
Enjoy a refreshing beverage served by our robot bar tender at the Yaskawa Pub. Featuring an HC10DTP collaborative robot with a 3D printed gripper, this safe and interactive experience allows you to choose from two popular beer brands via a user-friendly touchscreen. Once you’ve made your selection, the Bottoms Up Draft Beer Dispensing System quickly fills your cup through the bottom of the container, sealing the suds in with a circular, souvenir magnet.
