Embarking on the Future of Manufacturing

In less than two weeks, Yaskawa Motoman heads to McCormick Place in Chicago, IL for the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). IMTS is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world, featuring more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and over 114,000 registrants. The event is held every two years in September.

Our booth (#N-6600) will showcase several exciting new products that reflect the future of manufacturing. Attendees will see solutions for human-robot collaboration, material handling, mobile handling and logistics and 3D vision. We will also feature our most popular pre-engineered welding workcells and a high-speed, high-precision robotic assembly solution.

Collaborative Robotics
We will be previewing our new human-collaborative robot, the HC10. Featuring a power- and force-limited technology, the HC10 works safely with, or in close proximity to humans. Easy to "teach by demonstration" or simple programming, it is fast to deploy or redeploy on demand. The HC10 is easily adaptable to changing requirements and can perform a broad range of material handling, machine tending or light assembly tasks.

Material Handling
Our next-generation robot series will also be previewed at IMTS. The GP8, one of several new robot models available in 2017, is designed for handling and general applications. The high-speed GP8 has an IP67 rating and an easy-to-clean surface for use in harsher environments. Its slender design allows it to delve deep into the workspace, and only one cable is needed to connect the manipulator and controller.

Machine Tending Solutions
Learn how our innovative machine tending solutions can help improve your ROI. Our dual-arm SDA10 robot offers human-like flexibility and provides high functionality within a compact footprint. It tirelessly performs repetitive tasks with speed, accuracy and consistency. Our mobile machine tending and material movement technology is highlighted by our YMR12, a fully autonomous platform that combines a Motoman® MH12F robot with Clearpath Robotics’ OTTO 1500 self-driving mobile cart. This solution can perform multiple handling operations and logistics tasks throughout the shop floor and can communicate with other machines via wireless direct connection to a PLC. It provides a viable alternative to the traditional method of utilizing a fixed robot station.

3D Vision
To complement our line of robotics, we will be highlighting our next generation of vision technology for bin picking applications. MotoSight™ 3D CanonVision is our new, easy-to-use hardware/software solution that utilizes a single 3D machine vision head to quickly and easily recognize and pick parts that are randomly placed in bins. 3D CAD matching provides simplified, accurate part registration, allowing even complicated parts to be identified. Identification and location of randomly oriented parts were difficult for previous 2D and 3D vision systems.

Arc and Spot Welding
The ArcWorld C-30 and ArcWorld IV-6200SL will represent our extensive family of ArcWorld® solutions. These pre-engineered, ready-to-weld, arc welding solutions are available in various configurations to meet a wide variety of manufacturing requirements. The ArcWorld C-30 is an entry-level sized cell with a flat table to mount a welding jig. It is ideal for high-mix, low-volume job shops looking for a sustainable approach to growth. Our popular ArcWorld IV-6200SL is designed for higher-performance, higher-volume applications. It features dual robots and a space-efficient, ferris-wheel style positioner that allows for loading and unloading of parts while the robot is welding.

Our spot welding robots feature a streamlined design to enable higher robot density and the ability to reach into confined spaces, improving application flexibility.  See how two robot models with different payloads are synchronized with a part positioner for high production in a compact footprint.

Visitors can also see demonstrations of our STEM robotics platforms for education and workforce development in the Smartforce Student Summit booth #NC-533.

Finally, our sister division, Drives & Motion, will be in booth #E-4154. Yaskawa is the leading global manufacturer of low and medium voltage AC inverter drives, servo drives, machine controllers, and industrial robots.

If you have not registered for the show, sign up for a complimentary attendee badge.

We are excited to showcase our automation solutions and look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
