The need to optimize labor-intensive, high-throughput areas of the clinical diagnostic lab grows stronger every day, especially amidst the global pandemic landscape. From standalone workcells for “task-targeted” process automation to integrated systems for pre- and post-analytic sequencing, clinical labs are implementing advanced technologies, including robots.

Automation Advantages
Regardless of system type, clinical labs that implement automation tools are realizing transformative benefits, so much so that by 2026 the Clinical Laboratory Service Market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.51%1. Along with boosting throughput and enhancing specimen workflow, stringent client expectations are also being met. Whether a lab has one thousand or one hundred thousand specimens a day, the ability to accurately identify each specimen and prepare it for timely routing is having a positive impact. Moreover, the use of highly efficient and scalable automation systems that are compatible with current IT infrastructure is helping to expertly maintain specimen status and traceability, while freeing staff to perform higher value-added tasks.

Join Yaskawa at AACC 2021
To learn more about the value of implementing clinical laboratory solutions, you are invited to attend the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in Atlanta, Georgia, September 26-30, at the Georgia World Congress Center. The largest exposition for clinical laboratory products and services, this year’s meeting will offer nearly 200 educational opportunities, and the expo will feature over 200 new adaptive solutions for challenging healthcare environments.

At the show, look for our Yaskawa experts in Booth #3053, where you will see the following specimen processing systems:

AutoSorter™ XN – specifically designed for the Sysmex® XN-Series hematology line, the robust AutoSorter XN platform provides pre- and post-analytic specimen processing for demanding laboratory environments. Ideal for bulk loading and high-speed specimen sorting, AutoSorter XN is capable of loading/unloading a fully populated line at capacity, processing up to 1,100 specimens per hour. At the show, the AutoSorter XN will be shown in a scalable Sysmex automated hematology system, featuring two XN ST-40 modules for sample management.

AutoSorter 1200T – offering a robust design to meet the demands of high throughput commercial labs and reference laboratories, the AutoSorter 1200 can process up to 1,200 specimens per hour for rack-based pre-analytic sorting and post-analytic sorting/archiving. Capable of operating as a standalone sorter or as one in a series of processing stations in a conveyorized line, this flexible workcell is customizable to meet lab requirements, and it features a high-performance Yaskawa robot, optimizing system uptime and reliability.

Pathfinder 350A Archiver – highly efficient, the Aim Lab PathFinder 350A Archiver is a compact, bench top robotic workstation that automates the capping (foil sealing), sorting and archiving of sample tubes directly from analyzer racks into affordable storage racks. As the U.S. representative for Aim Lab Automation Technologies for sorters and archivers, Yaskawa is excited to feature this system that is ideal for archiving workloads of 500-3,000 tubes per day.

Our experts are excited to meet you in person and discuss these solutions and more including sorting, aliquoting, decapping/recapping, thawing/mixing, centrifugation, as well as archive storage and retrieval. Be sure to register and join us at AACC!
