Who Should Attend
The Touch Sensing module is an advanced course for recent controllers. Students are required to possess basic programming knowledge of their controller and system welding prior to attending this training module. As a minimum, the student should have a basic understanding of the GMAW process. BASIC PROGRAMMING with Arc Welding course is a prerequisite; Advanced Arc Welding or Advanced Programming with Arc Welding is recommended.
Course Overview
Classroom lectures on theory of operations and programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Classes are kept small in size, typically 4 or fewer students, in order to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere.
Course Materials
Students receive a copy of the Touch Sensing manual. Additional handouts are provided that relate to specific topics covered in class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues dealing with touch sensing.
Topics
Students learn to perform advanced functions with their controller and robots. Primary topics include: - weld start point detecting function - temporary shift with position variables - setup and programming of different types of touch macros - modification of integrated reference points.
