News / August 2022 / Yaskawa Recognizes Need for Industry Involvement in STEM Education, Workforce Development

Dayton, OH (August 2022) — Committed to providing innovative products and comprehensive training solutions that help bridge the skills gap between education and industry, Yaskawa Motoman maintains a strong presence at STEM education and workforce development events.

A featured guest in the Ohio Department of Development booth at the 2022 Ohio State Fair, Yaskawa recently showcased several interactive demonstrations to highlight the importance of robotics education and comprehensive training – including the Ohio TechCred Program – to address relevant workforce concerns. Along with hands-on learning opportunities for both students and adults, booth visitors learned how the use of industrial robots is helping human workers to perform higher value-added tasks for greater operational efficiency. In turn, this is creating the highly productive workforce manufacturers need to thrive and stay competitive.

Continuing to lead the way in maintaining a high level of enthusiasm for robotic automation, Yaskawa is also exhibiting at the IMTS Smartforce Student Summit (booth #215016, North Building, Level 1) in September and at the Future of Education Technology® Conference (booth #2849) in the new year. Each show will feature innovative STEM robotic solutions and provide an opportunity for educators and students to take part in an interactive educational encounter.

Innovative products, such as Yaskawa’s MotoSim® Touch, help facilitate a “real world” virtual robotic experience. A cost-effective PC-based offline programming and simulation tool, MotoSim Touch allows users to toggle between a virtual programming pendant and an actual robot pendant. Platforms like this test offline robot programming and robot simulation skills, as well as encourage the pursuit for industry-recognized robotic credentials.

To provide the most relevant Industry 4.0 experience, Yaskawa partners with leading educational companies, such as GennFlex, that develop and deliver innovative robotic and automation training solutions for K-16 and workforce development organizations. Featured with Yaskawa at IMTS, GennFlex robotic modules use production-grade technology to highlight the importance of industry-aligned STEM education. These technologically advanced yet cost-effective training systems come with instructor training and a curriculum that blends theory with hands-on practical exercises, labs and games. This unique approach to industrial training keeps students engaged, entertained and prepared for real-world robotic applications.
