Academy / Robotics Training In-Person / Canada - ON / YRC1000 Advanced Programming with Arc Welding

Who Should Attend

The YRC1000 Advanced Programming for Arc Welding Module, an advanced course on Yaskawa Motoman YRC1000 series industrial robots, provides programming instruction for operators with a working knowledge of the YRC1000 controller. As a minimum, the student should have a basic understanding of the GMAW process. The YRC1000 Basic Programming course is a prerequisite to this module.

Course Overview

Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in the Yaskawa Motoman Robotics Canada 2400 square foot demonstration and training laboratory. Students working teams to perform workshop exercises, including actual “live arc” welding exercises which emphasize commands covered in class lectures. These welding exercises are based on the GMAW process, using a constant voltage power source and mild steel wire. Classroom instruction includes advanced information on arc welding, cube definition, customizing speed choices, default speeds, parallel shift, and other information pertinent to welding systems. Classes are kept small in size, typically 4 or fewer students, in order to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows the students to work with each other and YMC instructors in order to grasp the concepts of robot welding

Course Materials

Students receive the YRC1000 Advanced Programming with Arc Welding manual, which details welding commands and programming techniques for the Motoman YRC1000 controller. Additional handouts relate to specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.

Topics

Students learn to perform advanced functions and apply weld-specific commands. Primary topics include: - development and setting of weld files jobs, etc. - development of welder condition files - welding related instructions - weld troubleshooting - weave welding - cube definitions - position variables - incremental moves - parallel shift - external axes programming - touch sense overview
