Classroom lectures on programming commands are reinforced with demonstrations. Commands and topics are related to real-world examples and applications. Material covered in the lectures is enhanced with actual hands-on programming by students in Motoman's 8,500-sq.ft. training facility. Students work in teams to perform workshop exercises which emphasize commands covered in class lectures. Class size is kept small, typically 12 or fewer, to promote an interactive, hands-on learning atmosphere. This allows students to work closely with each other and Motoman instructors to grasp the concepts of robot programming.

Course Overview

The XRC Intermediate Programming Module is an accelerated learning course covering standard basic and advanced programming functions and instructions. For best results, XRC Basic Programming should have been taken prior to attending this course

Course Materials

Students receive the XRC Intermediate Programming Manual and miscellaneous handouts that relate to specific topics covered in the class. Students are urged to take notes, participate in discussions, and to bring up specific programming issues.

Prerequisite

OPEN ENROLLMENT classes have the prerequisite waived.

Topics

Students learn to manipulate the robot, create new robot programs, modify existing programs, create backup data, and apply application-specific commands.
Primary topics include:
  • Robot safety
  • Basic and advanced I/O
  • Basic and advanced variable use
  • Basic & advanced arithmetic instructions
  • Standard shifting functions
  • Programming and editing w/ INFORM II
  • Basic & advanced use of position variables
  • SC parameter functions
  • Using system variables

Notes

Any student can attend who feels qualified. Class will proceed at the normal pace and cover the standard materials.

This module is a 4.5-day training class (5.0 with optional Arc). Classes are held throughout the year on average of once per quarter, and typically close out 30-60 days in advance.
